Here's how you can tell I'm not an interior designer. I hate wallpaper. Sure, wallpaper in magazines is always gorgeous and amazing and jaw-dropping. But wallpaper in real life falls short. It's difficult to put up and perhaps more difficult to take down. It usually looks thick and heavy and even when it's professionally installed I can only ever see the seams. And yeah, the really cool stuff is pretty but at a katrillion dollars a square foot it's not like to end up in any house I'm ever going to own.
I'm also not keen on projects using wallpaper. You always see stories in design mags about "ten diy projects you can make with wallpaper" and all. There's the obligatory "frame several small pieces of wallpaper as an interesting wall display" and the almost as frequently mentioned "room-divider-screen" project, usually using something bright and modern or maybe a large damask.
And as for things you can stick wallpaper to to make them more beautiful, I'm usually not impressed.
Note that I say usually. Because here are a few weekend wallpaper projects I can totally get behind.
clockwise from top left:
1. journal covers, from Fagerstrom and Smith's Wallpaper Projects: 50 Craft and Design Ideas for Your Home, from Accents to Art.
2. covered tables, also from Wallpaper Projects
3. belt buckle (ad wrist cuff, which you'll not i didn't enjoy enough to leave it in the picture), yet again from Wallpaper Projects.
4. covered metal bucket, from Parents.com
5. wall clock, from Parents.com

I'm so with you on the wallpaper...until I saw this: http://colormekatie.blogspot.com/2009/06/comic-books.html
So cute, right? It would be awesome in a little boys room, but can work really anywhere...
Wow, so many cool ideas!
Wonderful finds here! Also, I made an interesting discovery. Here’s an excerpt from an article I wrote about it this month…

Bill Blass said, ìStyle is primarily a matter of instinct.î Decorating takes on a new meaning for each individual. Different tastes in dècor mean different furniture, artwork and color palettes. So what is the rule of thumb for making your place zing if itís not a certain style, pattern, or color?
Bring out the Y-O-U!
Make a statement and let your personality shine through! Add your zing to make it pop. Hang something personal on the wall with a few well-chosen accents óbold and beautiful. The trend for decor is becoming more and more personalized.
Whatever you want to say while decorating, say it with your own individual style. Put it out there for the world to see and donít look back. Express yourself! When people enter your home theyíll shoot you a complementary smile, knowing it looks and feels sooooo perfectly like you. And no one can do YOU better.
